Welcome the website for Jamie Glackin, the current member of Labour's Scottish Executive Committee for West of Scotland, Mid Scotland & Fife. Here I will post SEC reports and if members want to get in touch about matters related to the Scottish Labour Party then please refer to the contact page.
It is an honour to be elected once again to serve as a members Voice on the SEC. Over the course of the next 12 months I will work on your behalf with Victoria Jamieson to ensure that members views and concerns are shared at the highest levels of our party.
We are a democratic socialist party and therefore are nothing without out membership, elected members and trade unionists, all striving to deliver a more equal Scotland. Our focus on the next 12 months will be in fighting for jobs and our public services, that thanks to the Tories at Westminster and the SNP at Holyrood, are under a threat not seen in Scotland since the 80's.
The SNP wiped the floor with us last May, but that will not be the end of the story. Scotland is too proud a country to be taken in by Alex Salmond's great Con for long. The tories cut the Scottish Budget but it was the SNP who took that cut and doubled it for councils.
In Johann Lamont and Anas Sarwar we have a leadership team who have already exposed the myths surrounding Salmond and his cheerleaders. Now the SEC will support them as the go forward into the longest campaign in history.
As well as representing members on the SEC, I will also be working hard to fund our almost annual election campaigns and staffing our party properly. Never have the stakes been higher for the Scottish Labour Party but our strength is in our membership. With the right political focus and an unswerving commitment to Labour values we can, and will succeed.
